Prime Video’s upcoming series Elle is set to premiere on July 1, 2026. The prequel to the Legally Blonde films explores the early life of Elle Woods before her journey to Harvard Law School. Created by Laura Kittrell, the series stars Lexi Minetree as the younger version of the iconic character originally portrayed by Reese Witherspoon.
The series is set in 1995 and follows Elle during her high school years. It examines her life as a teenager, including her friendships, relationships, family life, and the events that influence her outlook before she leaves for college.
The recently released trailer begins with Elle enjoying a comfortable life in Bel-Air, where she spends her time with friends, attends parties, and embraces the lifestyle she has always known. That changes when her parents, Eva and Wyatt Woods, announce that the family is relocating to Seattle.
The move forces Elle to leave behind her social circle and start over at a new school. Her first days at school are marked by awkward encounters and failed attempts to connect with classmates. While trying to adapt to the culture around her, she is accused of being a ‘poser.’ However, the trailer suggests that a controversy affecting the student body could change how others view her.
Minetree leads the cast as Elle Woods. June Diane Raphael portrays Eva Woods, and Tom Everett Scott plays Wyatt Woods. The ensemble also includes Chandler Kinney as Kimberly, Jacob Moskovitz as Miles, and Gabrielle Policano as Liz.
Elle marks the first television expansion of the Legally Blonde franchise.
