Matthew Perry’s former co-star has hinted that she wouldn’t want to work with the actor again, though she refused to name him
Matthew Perry’s fans are still feeling the loss of the actor two years after his death, as they continue to call for tributes to his lesser-known roles in TV shows and movies. However, one celebrity has spoken out about the challenges of working with him during his battle with addiction.
Perry, 54, was tragically found dead in a hot tub at his home on Oct. 28, 2023. His cause of death was later determined to be due to the acute effects of ketamine. Five individuals, including his personal assistant, were subsequently arrested in relation to his death.
In the wake of his passing, many have shared their memories of him, though there has also been talk of whether or not a Friends reboot could happen without him, something Jennifer Aniston herself has weighed in on.

While many have shared positive stories about working with Perry over the years in Hollywood, one star has now opened up about a less than positive experience, reports the Irish Star.
Allison Janney hinted at an encounter with a co-star that left her not wanting to work with them again while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, alongside her The Diplomat co-star Keri Russell.
The pair played an “Agree or Disagree” game, responding to various questions by holding up signs with the two words. One question asked if there were any former co-stars they wouldn’t want to work with again.
After responding with “agree,” Cohen offered “extra points” if they named the person they were referring to, but Janney declined.
“Well, mine is no longer with us, so I really can’t–I really couldn’t work with them again, even if I wanted to,” she said, adding “No, I’m not saying it. I will not be lulled into a false sense of safety being in this small little club.”
Rob Shuter confirmed on Substack that the person she was referring to was the late Friends star, whom she worked with on a few episodes of The West Wing, and then starred with on the show Mr. Sunshine.
“She adored his talent, but working with him on Mr. Sunshine was rough,” an insider revealed. “He was struggling–and the tension was real.
“He could be charming one minute and impossible the next. Allison had no patience for the chaos,” another source disclosed.
In his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry opened up about his history of addiction, confessing he became an alcoholic as a teenager, and later admitted to becoming addicted to Vicodin after a jet ski accident in 1997.
He also shared how he was often drunk or high on set during the latter seasons of Friends, with his co-stars even staging an intervention, though they were unsuccessful. He detailed several hospital and rehab stays throughout his career, including one where he nearly died after his colon burst due to opioid abuse.
He even confessed he had no memory of three entire years of work on Friends.
In May 2024, seven months after his death, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation to determine how he got hold of the lethal dose of ketamine that led to his demise.
This probe resulted in charges being filed against five individuals in August of the same year, including his personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, two physicians, and two drug dealers (one of whom is TV director Erik Fleming), accusing them all of involvement in the distribution of the ketamine that caused Perry’s death.
All five accused, including Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen,” have since admitted guilt in the case. Each one could face anywhere from 10 to 45 years behind bars when they are sentenced.
