Former Real Housewives of New York City star Carole Radziwill has revealed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s bizarre obsession with roadkill, recalling how his minivan “always smelled of death.”
On a recent episode of the On with Kara Swisher podcast, the RHONY alum, 62, who was once married into the Kennedy family, recalled the Health and Human Services Secretary’s unusual habit.
“He had that weird thing about roadkill, always,” Carol shared. “He would pick it up from the road all the time and leave it in his minivan, and sometimes he’d forget. There’d be like a skunk under the seat. His minivan always smelled of death.”
Kennedy’s eccentricities have often played out alongside his politics.
Donald Trump’s decision to appoint the former environmental lawyer turned anti-vaccine activist to a high-profile role in public health caused uproar, with critics citing his controversial claims about COVID, HIV, autism, fluoridated water, and even the immune systems of Black Americans.
She said, “I knew [RFK Jr.] well, him and his wife Mary. I spent a lot of time with them, from the time my husband died in 1999, for a decade on.”
She added, “I just can’t reconcile who it is I thought I knew with this person who has appeared on the scene. He’s undermining everything that the Kennedy family stood for, everything on every level.”
Still, Kennedy hasn’t lost all support within the extended Kennedy clan. Hollywood star Chris Pratt, whose wife Katherine Schwarzenegger is Maria Shriver’s daughter, defended him this week.
“I’ve spent a number of occasions hanging with him in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe, and I really got along with him well. I think he’s great,” Pratt said, though he admitted he doesn’t plan to “pick his brain to find out exactly” which criticisms are “true.”
