Rich Paul represents some of the biggest names in sports, but it’s how he landed a relationship with one of the biggest names in music that he’s talking about now.
The Klutch Sports Group founder, agent and entrepreneur opened up about meeting longtime partner Adele on the June 9 episode of Craig Melvin’s “Glass Half Full” podcast.
“How did you meet Adele?” Craig asked.
“Through a friend. I had known her for some time,” Paul said. “You know, just when you’re in these circles, man, you’re in these circles. But I never tried to get fresh with people that’s in comfortable circles because they always have to deal with that, so that was never my thing. It was really something that happened very organically, really.”
Paul, who represents stars like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, A’ja Wilson and Tyrese Maxey, said he wasn’t too familiar with her music before they met.
“Obviously, you can’t help but to hear the monster hits,” he said when asked if he had previously listed to Adele’s music. “But, no, not exactly. But obviously, you know, I’m pretty on the pulse of a lot of different things, and so, you know, some of the songs, the big songs, but I didn’t know all of the joints that I know now.”
Pressed for more details on the origins of their relationship, Paul said they continued to run into each other.
“We’re all in the same circles, and, you know, we’re hanging or whatnot,” he said. “We just used to always see each other, laugh and joke. It was just cordial, really, just cordial.”
“Until?” Craig said.
“Until it became not so cordial. Until I became a person of interest,” he joked, prompting Craig to laugh.
“A suspect,” quipped Craig.
Paul also may be with one of the world’s biggest pop stars, but he said he doesn’t shy away from showing off his pipes.
“I’m the best singer in the house,” he joked.
Adele and Paul started dating in 2021 and have kept their relationship relatively private. The two sparked engagement rumors back in 2024 after Adele responded to a fan’s poster at her concert with, “‘Will you marry me?’ I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married, so I can’t.”
