Ricky Martin transforms his gray and white dining room with just two accents: a photograph of sugar-covered lips and a glassware collection. Rather than showering the whole room in color, he starts with a neutral base and adds interest through artwork.
We spotted the Puerto Rican singer’s dining room idea in a recent Instagram post documenting breakfast with his daughter. It features a rectangular glass table flanked by mid-century-modern-style white chairs. In the background, a gray sideboard works as the anchor point for various sources of color.
Recreate Ricky’s Look at Home
Ricky Martin accessorizes his home with a photograph of a woman eating candy, and this similar picture from Amazon has additional bright colors. It would look best paired with a neutral room.
Set of 2 White Dining Chairs
There’s nothing like the inviting curves of a mid-century modern style dining chair, especially when the price is this good. These stylish chairs would be the perfect complement to a glass dining table.
Glass dining tables are in again, as shown in Ricky Martin’s space, and this one from Wayfair is especially striking. Made of tempered glass and stainless steel, it’s designed to last while upgrading your space.
Lime Basil & Mandarin Scented Candle
This unique, tropical fragrance combines peppery basil, white thyme, and lime for a distinctive fragrance. The candle is crafted in the English countryside for an eye-catching look, and the container resembles those on Ricky’s side bar.
In addition to the artwork on the wall, Ricky uses stylish glassware to upgrade the look of his sideboard and add texture to his home. This fluted vase is similar to the bowl he uses on the center.
Large Murano Glass Plate Italy 1940s
Glasswork can be an art, and nothing makes this clearer than this stunning Murano glass plate. It would be gorgeous used as a piece of decor on a neutral sideboard.
The use of artwork to introduce color is emerging as a major dining room trend in 2026. Design expert Magdalena Gierasinska explains: ‘2026 is the year of lived-in and deeply personal homes. Displaying your favourite pieces, whether artwork, mementoes, or ceramics, is key to achieving this. And where better to do this than the dining room, where we host friends and family for memorable gatherings.’
Though the walls are an excellent place to feature your art, you needn’t be confined to one location. As Ricky’s space shows, a shelf or sideboard is the perfect location to display ceramics and glassware.
Magdelena advises: ‘Rather than displaying artwork on the walls, consider open shelving or a glass fronted cabinet instead. As you continue your curation, your collection will grow and evolve, with new finds joining vintage objects to create a layered and deeply personal narrative that’s uniquely yours. A thoughtfully curated cabinet is elevated beyond a simple storage solution to become a living archive, preserving memories and adding depth to your home with each carefully chosen piece.’

Artwork in the home is a deeply personal expression of self, but it’s also a brilliant method for brightening and uplifting an otherwise uninspired space. Whatever method you choose, these showpieces are a wonderful addition to the home.
