Ricky Martin has spoken out following the tear gas attack he experienced during his concert in Montenegro on May 21st. A few days after his press office issued an official statement, the Puerto Rican singer has now raised his own voice to thank his audience in the Eastern European country for their warmth. He also made it clear that he will not give any power to the incident. The “La Mordidita” singer reiterated his love for his fans there and promised to return to the country to bring them the best of his music, proving his deep commitment to his audience.

On Instagram Stories, the Latin icon shared a message in Montenegrin, English, and Spanish. He highlighted the affection he received from his followers while completely brushing aside the incident, in which, fortunately, no one was injured.

“Montenegro, I am only going to focus on the incredible energy I felt coming from you. A warm audience full of love. We were celebrating, music, culture, and of course your independence. I am still flying after such an incredible night singing for you. Much love always… and I will be back,” the singer wrote, promising to return to Montenegro despite the unfortunate event that made headlines worldwide.

What Happened at Ricky Martin’s Concert in Montenegro?

On Thursday, May 21, Ricky Martin performed to a sold-out crowd in Montenegro. While the concert was underway, someone in the audience threw tear gas, causing people in the front rows to begin dispersing.

As a precaution, the show was halted. Ricky Martin left the stage along with some of his musicians, while others covered their faces to avoid contact with the gas, which causes irritation to the eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Róndine Alcalá, the Puerto Rican singer’s publicist, issued a statement detailing the unfortunate situation.

Ricky Martin’s message to Montenegro.

“During Ricky Martin’s concert tonight in Montenegro where the artist was kicking off the European leg of his Ricky Martin Live tour, a person threw tear gas toward the stage, causing an abrupt interruption of the show while attendees moved away from the area and received attention.”

“As a preventive measure, Ricky Martin and his entire team immediately left the stage while security personnel and local authorities worked to control the situation and ensure the safety of those present.”

Although Ricky’s team suggested ending the concert, the singer decided to resume the show once security personnel determined that conditions were safe to continue. “Although members of the artist’s work team recommended not continuing with the show, once authorities confirmed that the situation was under control and that the public could safely return, Ricky Martin decided to resume the concert to fulfill his commitment to his fans.”
