From RGB lighting to League’s Ruination, VALORANT skins come from a wide range of inspirations, styles, and designs. Back in 2022, the Gaia’s Vengeance skinline was released playing off The Mother of Earth in Greek Mythology. But what about her grandson, the lightning-wielding, king of the gods, Zeus?
That’s the question we asked Denis Lakhanov, a Senior Concept Artist on VALORANT, for Super Art Power Hour Episode 12. As he tackles the hypothetical challenge of bringing the god of the skies into VALORANT, Denis brings in real experience from his time working on skinlines like Elderflame, Oni, Champions and many more, to show the full process of designing a new VALORANT skin for the Phantom and Vandal.
This is Super Art Power Hour, so nothing in this video is actually shipping to players. While you won’t be able to pick this one up in-game, what you will see is how an artist lays out the lines that define a VALORANT skin, how colors contrast to make a skin pop in game, and how the small differences between VALORANT’s two most popular rifles can lend themselves to big design choices.
