ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Museum & Science Center is bringing reggaeton to the planetarium with a new “Laser Bad Bunny” show premiering Saturday.
The show will run Saturday nights throughout February, with the museum expecting to extend its schedule due to early demand. Tickets are already on sale, and opening night is nearly sold out, according to Kira Sandoval, marketing and communications manager at the RMSC.
The show incorporates some of Bad Bunny’s most popular hits and collaborations, paired with high‑energy visuals. Sandoval said visitors should expect a lively experience.
“It’s going to be a show that we cannot ask people to sit in their seats for,” Sandoval said. “It’s filled with reggaeton and dembow beats. It’s just going to be a really lively, colorful one.”
RMSC leaders say the event is designed for adults, particularly those looking for a night‑out pregame option. All showtimes will take place at night, and some of the featured tracks include explicit lyrics. The museum recommends parental discretion for anyone considering bringing younger viewers.
While the RMSC is often associated with children’s programming, Sandoval said the growing lineup of adult‑only events—such as a tattoo‑themed planetarium night that recently sold out—reflects the center’s focus on attracting new and diverse audiences.
“If somebody traditionally hasn’t visited a planetarium or museum before, and we can bring them in with something fun like Laser Bad Bunny, they might also discover something else they love,” she said.
Planning for the show began more than a year ago, but the announcement that Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl halftime show provided the final push to launch the series this month.
The event also aims to celebrate the city’s Puerto Rican community, which makes up a large portion of Rochester’s Hispanic and Latino population. About 19–20% of Rochester residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, and roughly 77% of that group is Puerto Rican, Sandoval said.
“We have a really rich Rochester history of Puerto Rican citizens,” she said. “We’re excited to honor that cultural win — and the cultural win of Bad Bunny getting to be the Super Bowl halftime show.”
