Robert Irwin’s moves on Dancing With the Stars are turning heads, and so is his paycheck.
The 21-year-old is competing in the U.S. version of the show and, like other celebrities this season, has secured a major payday.
According to Variety, each cast member collects about $125,000 for rehearsals and the first two weeks of performances. Contestants who last longer reportedly earn additional bonuses.
In past seasons, the maximum take-home for a celebrity ranged between $295,000, Variety reported in 2019, and $360,000, according to Good Housekeeping earlier this year.
His tango with professional partner Witney Carson drew high marks this week, with bookmakers tipping the pair as frontrunners.
“Everything was reinvested into conservation work,” she said. “I was in debt… and Steve’s life insurance, I think, was the sum total of $200,000, which didn’t even cover half of one week’s payroll.”
Terri explained that she and her husband had drawn up a long-term plan to keep the zoo running. She added that Steve also secured the family’s future with a firm will.
He left what she described as an “ironclad” document that prevented “some crazy person [would] sweep in from some distant family connection and try to take everything.”
Steve Irwin died on September 4, 2006, after being struck in the chest by a stingray barb while filming in the Great Barrier Reef with Philippe Cousteau Jr.
