HAMPTON, Minn. — Five Rochester Royals players collected multiple hits as the Royals rolled to a 17-7 victory against the Hampton Cardinals here Sunday in Section 1 amateur baseball play.
The Royals scored six runs in the second inning and never trailed in the victory, which came two days after Hampton forfeited a scheduled game against the Royals at Mayo Field. The Royals were awarded a 9-0 win for that game.
Sunday, Logan Milene, Sam Graunke and Nick Pearson all collected three hits apiece to lead a 15-hit day for the Royals.
All three of Milene’s hits were doubles, as he drove in two runs and scored three times.
Graunke scored twice and had three RBIs, while Pearson also had three RBIs.
Mike Michalak and Gavin Klennert had two hits each in the win. Michalak, a Mayo High grad, hit a triple, scored twice and drove in three runs. Klennert also scored three times.
Spencer Kober added a hit, an RBI and three runs; and Owen Kelly hit a double and scored twice.
Kasey Carlson pitched the first seven innings to earn the win for the Royals. He allowed three runs (just one earned) on six hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.
The Royals (9-5 overall, 6-3 section) return to play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mayo Field, against Red Wing.
