EXCLUSIVE: Evoke Entertainment, the management and production company formerly known as Cartel Entertainment, has signed director Rod Lurie (The Outpost) for representation.
A West Point graduate and former journalist, Lurie’s filmography includes The Contender, a political drama which earned Oscar nominations for Joan Allen and Jeff Bridges, as well as The Last Castle, starring the late Robert Redford and James Gandolfini, Nothing But the Truth, Resurrecting the Champ, Screen Gems’ 2011 remake of the Sam Peckinpah classic Straw Dogs, and the Afghanistan war drama The Outpost, starring Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones, and Orlando Bloom.
On the television side, Lurie created the Golden Globe–winning Commander in Chief, starring Geena Davis, and the FBI drama Line of Fire.
Lurie’s latest film, The Senior, an inspirational sports drama starring Michael Chiklis, will be released nationwide this weekend through Angel Studios and Wayfarer Studios. Produced by Mark Ciardi, the film is based on the true story of Mike Flynt, a star college football player who returned to the gridiron at age 59, decades after a fist fight with a teammate led to his expulsion from Texas’ Sul Ross State University.
Currently, Lurie is in post on a WWII film titled Lucky Strike, which stars Eastwood and Colin Hanks.

A full-service management, production, and finance company, Evoke Entertainment’s credits include Creepshow for Shudder/AMC, the animated family series Twelve Forever for Netflix, the Universal/Syfy series Day of the Dead, the upcoming adult animated series Breaking Bear for Tubi, and the upcoming unscripted series Forever Young with Dr. Pablo Prichard for NBC and Peacock.
