Prince Harry has reportedly been put in a “nightmare” position, with King Charles “refusing to nail down a date” for a meeting this summer. The Duke of Sussex will travel to the UK in preparation for the 2027 Invictus Games in July, and is said to be hoping for a one-to-one with his father during the trip. The monarch is said to have grown increasingly wary of his youngest son’s intentions after a “friend” of his spoke to the British press in March, however, according to Heat World.
The source said Harry would “like an invite to Sandringham”, but his acceptance would “depend on who was there”. They added that he was unlikely to bring his two children back to Britain without an “enhanced security package around them”. Reflecting on Charles’s change in attitude, another insider said: “After all these months of discussing this visit as though it was guaranteed to be happening, the conversation has now drastically shifted and Harry is getting the run-around. [The King’s] aides are refusing to nail down a date or send his schedule, they keep making excuses and Charles is backing them up so there isn’t much for Harry to say. It’s a total nightmare [for him]. He’s devoted so much time and energy to building a bridge with his father and now it’s all looking like it might have been for naught.”
