Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie have reportedly found themselves in a “very difficult position” regarding their Christmas arrangements, as King Charles has indicated that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson won’t be welcomed at official holiday festivities.
A source close to the monarch revealed that Charles aims to maintain the Yorks at “an arm’s length” following recent disclosures about Fergie’s ties to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Ever since the Duchess of York’s 2011 email correspondence with the deceased financier came to light, and with Prince Andrew’s longstanding connections to Epstein through various controversies, King Charles has made it evident that he would prefer the Yorks to adopt an “out of sight, out of mind” stance for any upcoming family gatherings. Meanwhile, a royal expert has claimed that Prince Harry ‘can’t be trusted.’
Consequently, Fergie and Andrew are reportedly facing ceremonial exclusion from this year’s customary Royal family Christmas festivities, leaving their daughters Eugenie and Beatrice trapped between the Firm and their scandal-ridden parents, according to Royal commentator Phil Dampier.
The Royal expert informed the Daily Mail that the sisters “may feel it would be unfair” of them to participate with the King and Queen and other royals at Sandringham, should their parents remain uninvited. Mr Dampier told the publication: “If it turns out they are not invited, or decide themselves not to go, then it makes it very difficult for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. They may feel it would be unfair of them to go when their parents aren’t there and it simply rubs salt in their wounds.
“The King has a soft spot for both Beatrice and Eugenie and feels sorry for the situation they are in. So it’s a real dilemma for him and one he could do without.”
The Royal expert indicated that the Prince of Wales would similarly prefer the sisters not be excluded because of their parents, noting: “He does have a good relationship with his cousins.”
During last year’s festivities, Eugenie celebrated Christmas with her husband Jack Brooksbank’s relatives, while Beatrice participated in the Royal celebrations at Sandringham. The sole other occasion either sister has been absent from the Royal Family’s holiday traditions was in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
Beyond being shut out of this year’s Christmas festivities, the monarch has allegedly informed Fergie and Andrew that he anticipates them to remain “invisible” at upcoming Royal occasions.
An insider revealed to The Sunday Times: “You can’t sack someone from being your brother. But this year, if the duke and duchess were both to be as honourable [as last year], it would be very much for the best and the family would not be disappointed, not least to avoid the King having to make any more difficult decisions.”
The Prince of Wales is reportedly backing the decision, as he is believed to be frustrated and worried about the potential long-term damage to the Royal family’s reputation caused by the Yorks’ behavior.
