Netflix is giving the boot to some critically acclaimed titles ahead of Christmas, and this captivating Brad Pitt war film is on the chopping block.
Each month, shows and movies on the streaming service reach their expiration date, leading them to be removed from the entertainment platform. Up next to be axed is Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 film Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad, 61, and other talented actors, including Christoph Waltz, 69.
Until December 1, when the gory flick is scheduled to leave Netflix, viewers can still watch Brad and Christoph deliver Oscar-worthy performances.
The film is about the Nazi’s occupation of France during World War 2, and sees Brad’s character, Lt. Aldo Raine, leading a dangerous mission behind enemy lines to assassinate leaders in Nazi Germany.
But unknown to the Allied Forces, the Jewish owner of a French theater has her own plans of revenge.
A third complimented, “Inglorious Basterds is glorious!!!!! The film is so enjoyable, so entertaining, so smartly written, so well crafted, so beautifully lensed and so well acted that I didn’t want it to end.”
Although the film is generally held in high regard, some have opposing views of it.
“It wasn’t satisfying… Perhaps I’ll change my mind. Perhaps I won’t. But today I’ll simply say that I thought it was inglorious indeed,” one slammed, as another commented, “It is his first film where the bad, underwhelming points outweigh the good – and his first that cannot be recommended easily.”
