Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday, May 19, but the royal family reportedly did not reach out to the happy couple.
“There was no phone call, no private message, no peace offering — absolutely nothing,” a source told Rob Shuter in the Wednesday, May 20 edition of his Naughty But Nice Substack. “The silence was very intentional.”
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing photos and videos on her story of the Spare author, 41, gifting her a lemon elderflower cake and a penguin statue, a meaningful gift as the couple wore penguin onesies at their engagement party.

Additionally, the As Ever founder made two separate Instagram carousel posts filled with photos from her wedding day — and none included members of the royal family.
“That omission did not go unnoticed,” another source told Shuter. “The photos focused entirely on Harry and Meghan. It was like the royals had been erased from the story.”

Shuter pointed out that there have been rumors that the Duke of Sussex is engaged in “Project Thaw,” a plan to ease tensions with his father, King Charles III, and brother Prince William.
“Harry keeps sending signals through the media about reconciliation,” a third insider claimed. “But many inside the family think this is more about winning the PR narrative than genuinely rebuilding trust.”

“There’s still enormous hurt, anger, and suspicion,” the insider further noted. “Moments like this don’t heal the divide — they expose how wide it still is.”
As Examiner previously reported, Harry — who shares Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 4 with Meghan — ended his 19-month estrangement with Charles, 77, in September, but the relationship reportedly remains rocky. Harry has not yet reunited with William, 43.
A source told Examiner earlier this month that “If Harry wants to have a relationship with him, he’s going to have to do it on Charles’ terms,” explaining the sovereign is “not going to be taking orders from Meghan.”
