Royals place Hunter Harvey on 15-day injured list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For the third time in his Royals career, reliever Hunter Harvey has been placed on the injured list.

The Royals announced Monday that Harvey was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right adductor strain. It’s the third time the 30-year-old right-handed pitcher has been placed on the injured list since the Royals acquired him from the Washington Nationals on July 14, 2024.

Harvey went on the 15-day injured list in August 2024 due to mid-back tightness and wasn’t activated until the final day of September.

This April, Harvey was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right teres major strain. In June he was moved to the 60-day injured list before he returned to Kansas City’s MLB roster on July 25.

Since being acquired by the Royals, Harvey has appeared in 18 games, pitching 16.1 innings. In 12 appearances this season he has a 0.00 earned run average.

In a corresponding move, Kansas City recalled Luinder Avila from Triple-A Omaha. If he makes an appearance, it’ll be his MLB debut.
