The Kansas City Royals have been searching for outfield help this offseason. After adding Isaac Collins in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers and signing Lane Thomas, the outfield looks to be mostly set.
But, there is still a need for extra depth and Spring Training competition. Free agency isn’t over yet, and there are still some interesting players available this offseason.
With pitchers and catchers reporting coming soon, the Royals announced the signing of former Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels infielder/outfielder Brandon Drury to a free-agent deal.

“We have signed INF Brandon Drury to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training,” the Royals announced Wednesday morning.
Drury is a 33-year-old veteran who has 10 years of MLB experience. He last played in the Major Leagues in 2024 with the Los Angeles Angels.
He put up -2.0 bWAr in his worst season as a professional. His .169 batting average, combined with his .469 OPS and 34 OPS+across 97 games, was a very poor mark for the veteran infielder.

When combined with below-average defense, it’s not a major surprise that Drury wasn’t back in the Major Leagues in 2025.
He bounced between free agency, the Chicago White Sox, and the Angels last season, but never played in the Majors.
While he might not be the player he once was, when he had an .813 OPS in 2022 and an .803 OPS in 2023, Drury could return to such form this Spring Training and give the Royals an interesting option for their roster this upcoming season.
