Rumer Willis is opening up about life as a single mom and her role as the first Global Ambassador for at-home hormone tracker Mira
The actress, who was granted primary custody of her daughter Louetta in June, says watching her daughter grow “is teaching me so much about myself and loving myself more”
“I’m looking at the possibility of what it might look like to have more kids by myself this year,” Willis tells PEOPLE
Rumer Willis is embracing life as a single mom while reflecting on the lessons she hopes to pass on to her daughter.
The 37-year-old actress and eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore is the first Global Ambassador for Mira, an at-home hormone tracker she used while trying to conceive and again during her postpartum recovery after welcoming daughter Louetta, now 3.
“I found Mira because I wanted to see what was going on with my body,” Willis tells PEOPLE. “I had an idea I was pregnant with Louetta before I even took a test because I saw how elevated my hormones were. Then I took a test, even though it was a little early, and was like, ‘Oh my God, this is insane,’ because I was not entirely expecting that.”

She adds, “I’m so deeply passionate about women’s health, and I feel like we as women have this designation of being less than, like we’re always looking for someone else to validate what’s going on with us and our bodies. I feel like everybody’s getting the information too late.”
Becoming a mother has not only taught Willis more about her body, but also about herself.

“[Louetta] is such a gift, honestly. Becoming a mother has been the most transformative and life-changing thing,” the actress, who shares her daughter with ex-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas, says.
She continues, “People look at me like I’m crazy, but I’m definitely one of those women who could probably have eight more children. If the universe and my body would give me that opportunity, I would do it in a heartbeat because it’s just such a gift.”

As Louetta grows up, Willis says she hopes to lead by example, teaching her daughter to trust herself, embrace who she is and never be afraid to advocate for her own well-being.
“Watching your child grow and develop and discover the world is teaching me so much about myself and loving myself more and having more patience,” she says. “The thing I’ve been learning a lot through these toddler years is watching the rubber band of my distress tolerance grow, because I think the biggest challenge as parents is our distress tolerance. We hate to see our children in pain.”
Willis, who says “everybody’s parenting journey is different,” was granted primary custody of Louetta in June following a contentious legal battle with Thomas, 33. Despite the challenges, she says she’s entering an exciting new chapter.

“This year has been so crazy for me, and there’s been so much huge change going on in my life,” she says. “I feel like I’ve been dealing with challenges, but there’s so much incredible magic.”
“I think I have this new chapter that’s coming,” she continues. “I’m focusing on music, I’m doing this magical partnership with Mira and I’m looking at the possibility of what it might look like to have more kids by myself this year. Everything in my life that’s meant for me seems like it’s just become really clear.”
