Legendary Canadian progressive metal trio Rush have announced a dozen dates on the band’s Rush Fifty Something 2026 Tour, which runs June 7 to Sept. 17. The news was released at a private event on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland where the reformation of the group was dropped in a crowd Q&A session.

Rush played its final concerts in 2015 on the R40 Tour and announced its disbandment in January 2018. Fans can sign up for Oct. 13 presale ticket offers at ticketmaster.com.

The tour will “Celebrate 50 plus years of Rush music, their legacy, and honour late bandmate Neil Peart.” Drummer and primary lyricist Peart passed away due to glioblastoma in January 2020. Since then the surviving members, bassist and lead vocalist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson, pursued various solo projects.

The two periodically performed together at select events such as the South Park 25th anniversary celebration and 2022’s Taylor Hawkins tribute in honour of the late Foo Fighters drummer.

The tour announcement follows the March 2025 release of Rush 50. The career-spanning 50-track anthology collected band-curated song selections from its first single to the final performance by the trio at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif. The Rush Fifty Something 2026 Tour will start with two shows at the same venue beginning on June 7 before winding down at the Rock Arena in Cleveland on Sept. 17.

German drummer and composer Anika Nilles has been announced as Peart’s replacement for the tour. A renowned music educator, Nilles caught the attention of Lee’s bass tech, John “Scully” McIntosh, while she was touring with guitarist Jeff Beck’s band in 2022. He recommended the drummer to Lee and she was flown out to Toronto to do some playing with the surviving members to see how it went.

Both Lee and Lifeson both are quoted in a Variety story noting Nilles was a solid fit. The tour band will be expanded to include a keyboard player. Previously, Lee and Lifeson pulled double duty on their respective guitars as well as keyboards.

The reunited band is presently rehearsing and plans on playing lengthy sets that will encompass the legendary Canadian group’s recorded legacy. There is no discussion of adding additional dates to the tour, but fans can hope. Details of opening acts and tickets going on sale TBA.
