It has been suggested that during Prince William‘s future reign, Prince Andrew’s titles could remain in jeopardy, and Queen Elizabeth II‘s strategy of refusing to address public criticism of the Royal Family will be abandoned.
Royal historian and biographer Christopher Wilson shared his perspective: “I think to a large extent Charles has adhered to that as a safe policy-the moment you start tearing the family apart, where does it stop?”
In conversation with the Telegraph, Mr Wilson anticipates Prince William will adopt a different stance toward criticism, particularly regarding the controversies surrounding his uncle, Prince Andrew.
The expert elaborated, “With William, it will be a different approach-he has hard-nosed ideas about how the Royal Family needs to appear in the frenzied social media world we now inhabit, and I think will be ruthless.”
The publication’s Royal editor further asserted: “Prince William, those around him attest, understands the reputational threat his uncle poses to the monarchy in a new generation and will not shy away from taking action if it needs to fall to him,” reports the Express.
According to the Telegraph’s reporting, “There is a mechanism, the Duke of York may not be pleased to learn, by which Parliament can remove not just a Dukedom but even the title of Prince. The revelation emerges as a forthcoming Royal biography, titled ‘Entitled: the Rise and Fall of the House of York’ has been featured in the Daily Mail, packed with damaging disclosures about Prince Andrew.
Among several explosive allegations, the new tell-all claims Prince Harry and his uncle engaged in a physical confrontation during a family event in 2013 over “something Andrew said behind Harry’s back”.
Writer Andrew Lownie alleged “Harry got the better of Andrew by all accounts”, with Harry leaving his uncle “with a bloody nose” before their brawl was interrupted.
Subsequently, Andrew predicted Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle wouldn’t survive beyond a month and branded his nephew as having gone “bonkers” while failing to properly investigate her background.
However, representatives for the Duke of Sussex have firmly rejected claims the altercation occurred, stating that Andrew never made the purported remarks.
A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex informed the Daily Mail: “I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.”
In yet another significant allegation, a source cited in Lownie’s book, as reported in the Daily Mail, suggests the Prince of Wales is eager to “evict” the duke and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson. Citing a source, the author writes: “William has long worked behind the scenes to evict his uncle from Royal Lodge, the home he occupies in Windsor Great Park. He thinks Andrew is abusing the property and his privilege there.”
Prince Andrew’s downfall came after a catastrophic Newsnight interview in 2019 regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased American financier and convicted sex offender. After the interview, the duke lost his Royal and military titles in 2021.
