The interview request comes as Sarah keeps a low profile following her appearance in the Epstein files. Although appearing in the files does not indicate wrongdoing, it does show that the former duchess kept in touch with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein after he was first released from prison for child sex offences.
This has seen Sarah’s reputation plummet.
While some believed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ex wife would want to give her side of the story, it seems that this is not the case, with reports by The Sun suggesting she turned down a request for an interview with BBC Newsnight.
It is believed part of the reason she rejected the invite is because of Andrew’s 2019 “car crash” interview with Newsnight, which his reputation has never recovered from.
Speaking about whether or not Sarah did the right thing by rejecting such an interview, brand and culture expert Nick Ede exclusively told The Express: “Fergie being offered a newsnight mega interview may sound like a good idea, to appear on a credible news programme.
“It’s the same show that highlighted her ex-husband’s relationship with Epstein, and no matter how many times you prepare for questioning she will be put in a position where she will have to be honest about her relationship.”
He continued: “She will be constantly compared to Andrew’s car crash moment. Her image is in tatters but it could suffer even more if she did a big interview like this.”
He continued: “For her at the moment it’s best to keep a low profile and stay quiet.”
