A charity that counts Sarah, Duchess of York as their Patron has declared it would be “inappropriate” for her to remain in her position after revelations emerged that she had apologized to Jeffrey Epstein following her public distancing from him.
Julia’s House, a children’s hospice located in Wiltshire, has officially cut ties with the Duchess after reports surfaced that she had sent an email to her “supreme friend” Jeffrey Epstein, following his prison release for child sex crimes.
The Duchess, who has been associated with the charity since 2018, reportedly e mailed the millionaire pedophile just weeks after she vowed never to contact him again during a televised interview. The news comes as King Charles says Harry can’t ‘just return’ to royal family amid growing frustration.
In the March 2011 interview, she expressed regret for having accepted £15,000 from Epstein, a longtime companion of her former husband Prince Andrew. A representative for the Duchess declined to offer additional commentary.
The email the Duchess transmitted was disclosed in The Sun and the Mail on Sunday. It stated: “I know you feel hellaciously let down by me. And I must humbly apologise to you and your heart for that.
“You have always been a steadfast, generous and supreme friend to me and my family. I am apologising to you today for not replying to your email or reaching out to you. I was bedridden with fear. I was paralysed.
“I was advised, in no uncertain terms, to have nothing to do with you and to not speak or email you. And if I did – I would cause more problems to you, the Duke and myself. I was broken and lost.
“So please understand. I didn’t want to hurt Andrew one more time. I was in overriding fear. I am sorry.”
After allegations emerged that the Duchess had emailed Epstein, her representative stated she was “taken in by his lies” and only sent the message to prevent potential defamation threats.
The spokesperson declared: “The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies.
“As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia. She does not resile from anything she said then.
“This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”
