Sarah Ferguson has been dubbed “embarrassingly desperate” by an insider as she has tried to get the King’s forgiveness. Over the last few months, the former Duchess of York has experienced arguably her biggest downfall yet.
As well as losing her duchess title as a result of her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being stripped of all royal titles following his latest scandals, she has also seen herself caught up in a scandal surrounding the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. This is because it emerged that Sarah, 66, had emailed Epstein in 2011 after he was released from prison for child sex offences.
In the email, Sarah called Epstein a “supreme friend” and apologised for criticising him in a media interview. Although a spokesperson for the duchess has said the email was only sent out of fear Epstein would sue the duchess for defamation, this has not eased Sarah’s royal downfall.
At the time, one insider said that Fergie is “disgracing herself with these cringey Christmas messages”.
Another source said that the gesture was “embarrassingly desperate. They told OK! Magazine: “She even sent one to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Considering it was Charles who stripped her and Andrew of their royal titles, it just seems embarrassingly desperate and like a better letter.”
It is believed Sarah had apologised to King Charles for the scandals she has found herself involved in.
It is not known whether King Charles responded to the gesture, or whether he has been in contact with Sarah at all since the scandals just months ago.
