Fergie, as she is otherwise known, is understood to be open to the right deal, with discussions focusing on her friendship with the convicted paedophile. But now a royal expert issued a daming verdict ahead of her potential bombshell TV interview and warned the public to get “prepared to be appalled”.
Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said that the former Duchess should rather “keep quiet” for her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s, sake, but added that that is not “her style”.
Mr Fitzwilliams told the Daily Express: “Since, to our knowledge, she has no sources of income, this or something like this [a TV interview] is a real possibility.
“It is possible that one of the major TV stations could make her an offer. [But] Sarah Ferguson could [also] use a little-known outlet and the interest would be enormous.”
He added: “Her most dignified plan would be to keep quiet, if only for the sake of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, for whom the King has affection. However, this is not her style.”
The royal expert claimed that there could be “more to come” from her disturbing relations with Epstein and that this, as well as being called as a witness if the scandal goes to court, could “possibly restrain” her.
He explained: “She is in total disgrace, having lost the charities attached to her, but there is global fascination about where she has been staying and what she might do next.
“Since Andrew has been arrested and this may lead to a court appearance and she may be called as a witness if it goes to court, it is just possible this may restrain her.
“However, she is neither wise nor restrained in temperament. I think we will get something. Charities almost certainly won’t touch her. Whether anyone believes a thing she says if and when she appears is another matter, as her credibility has totally disintegrated.”
Mr Fitzwilliams said that Ms Ferguson made the same move when she was “a disaster as a royal” and that there is a “flaw in the British character” as many people took “so long” to realise her “true character”.
He added: “If only she could be quiet, but it isn’t her style. Prepare to be appalled!”
