The former Duchess of York is now a “nobody” following renewed scrutiny of her relationship with predator Jeffrey Epstein, royal commentator Andrew Pierce has claimed.

Pierce made the blistering remark on the May 19 episode of Best Magazine UK‘s “Suddenly Single” podcast, arguing that even though Fergie has “traded on [her] royal connections for forever and a day,” those days are now over.

“She also knows that’s it with the royal family. No more trips [to] Sandringham at Christmas with the royals,” said Pierce, who’s also a columnist for the Daily Mail. “[King Charles III] has been far too generous [with] her, and she’s history now. She’s a nobody. She doesn’t exist.”

Pierce noted that Fergie has vanished from the kind of elite social events she once attended, recalling that he saw her at a Christmas party at a billionaire’s home in London’s Belgravia neighborhood over the 2024 holiday season — and that she wasn’t there for the same party in 2025.

“She has taken herself off the social circuit completely,” Pierce said. “She’s hanging her head in shame.”

As for whether there’s any coming back from the Epstein scandal, which has engulfed both Fergie and ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Pierce didn’t waver. “I don’t think there is this time,” he said.

Spending problem

In addition to her relationship with Epstein, Pierce also took aim at Ferguson’s finances, calling her spending habits a major factor in her downfall.

“She is a reckless spender. That’s her problem,” he said. Pierce pointed to the Epstein files and reports claiming she’d racked up millions of dollars in debt and had asked the disgraced financier to help her repay some of it.

“How did she get debts of 4.5 million pounds?” Pierce wondered before repeating the figure, which is a little more than $6 million today. “Extraordinary!” he added, before listing some of the things Ferguson allegedly overspent on.

“She had her own cupcake chef. Every family should have one,” Pierce said mockingly. “And she always took a dresser with her, a hairdresser, a publicist. She just spends — she’s very generous. She buys people very expensive presents, but it’s not her money to buy the present with,” he added.

Pierce also cited reports claiming that in recent months, Ferguson has been staying at “an Alpine clinic in Austria [that costs] 2,000 pounds a night,” or about $2,700. “Who’s paying that? Who’s paying the bill?” he asked.

Royal exile

Ferguson’s latest troubles come as the former Duke of York faces his own dramatic fall from grace.

In late 2025, amid renewed interest in his relationship with Epstein, the king stripped his brother of his royal titles and honors as the monarchy attempted to distance itself from the scandal. The fallout intensified in early 2026 when Mountbatten-Windsor was forced out of Royal Lodge, the 30-room Crown Estate mansion he and Fergie had called home for years despite their 1996 divorce.

Then, in February, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice released emails suggesting he passed sensitive government documents to Epstein while serving as Britain’s trade envoy.

Pierce noted that Mountbatten-Windsor’s own legal and financial pressures mean he is unlikely to be helping fund Ferguson’s post-royal life.

“It won’t be Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor [paying her bills] because he’s going to have to conserve every penny he’s got for his legal costs, if he’s taken to court, because he may yet be. He’s been arrested. He may be prosecuted for improper conduct in public life. He may be prosecuted for allegedly giving privileged information to wealthy people like Jeffrey Epstein.

“And he’s really down on his luck. I mean, he’s living in a five-bedroom house,” Pierce said, referring to Marsh Farm, the property on the king’s privately owned Sandringham estate where Mountbatten-Windsor is now living. “How’s he ever going to manage?” Pierce teased, adding that the former Duke of York now only has “two members of staff living there.”

According to Pierce, the royals’ response to the disgraced former prince’s scandals is part of a long-running survival instinct. “The House of Windsor has survived so long because it has a brutal streak running through it. And we’ve seen that,” he said.
