Sarah Ferguson is under pressure to give evidence about Jeffrey Epstein. The 66-year-old’s reputation is in tatters over her connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Sarah featured in the most recent Epstein files, with emails that she exchanged with Epstein unveiled in the three million files. In one email, which was dated as being sent on September 17, 2009, Sarah told Epstein that he could marry a woman with a “great body” – before saying that he could marry her. Sarah wrote: “You can marry her too. She is single and [sic] a great body”, before adding, “Ok well marry me and then we will employ her”.
Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, a member of the House Oversight Committee investigating the handling of Epstein’s prosecution, has now said that Sarah should consider giving evidence.
He said: “Sarah Ferguson should give sworn testimony to our committee.”
Although there is nothing to compel her to give evidence, he told the BBC that lawmakers would be “happy to work out terms that work for her” as long as she was under oath.
Democratic Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury also told the BBC: “If [Sarah] Ferguson or any member of their family has such information, our responsibility is to follow the facts wherever they lead.
The family of Epstein’s victim Virginia Guiffre have also shared that they “strongly believed” Sarah should go to America to answer question in regards to her connection to Epstein.
A representative for Virginia’s brother Sky Roberts previously told Sky News: “If [Sarah] Ferguson knows anything, she should testify in the United States immediately.”
Virginia died by taking her own life last April.
