In ABC’s reboot of Scrubs, Judy Reyes’ beloved character, Carla, returns as a tired mom balancing four kids and a nursing career. Off-screen, Reyes’ own life isn’t too different, but her village of mom friends is getting her through it.
Reyes came into the SheKnows studio for an instalment of our “Parents Tell All” video series, which you can watch in the video above. The actress shared her no-nonsense approach to parenting her 16-year-old, joked about which Scrubs star makes the best babysitter, and opened up about the former co-stars she leans on for parenting advice.
“Suleka Mathew, who played my wife on Claws, gives me great parenting advice,” Reyes told SheKnows. Mathew, with whom Reyes worked on the TNT dramedy between 2017 and 2019, is a mom of a teenage daughter.
“Ana Ortiz, who has two of her own children, has great parenting advice,” Reyes added of her Delicious Maids co-star and longtime friend. “They’re both very dear friends of mine… They’re the two people that I’ve spent the most time with who are parents, with whom we can either share what we’re going through.”
“They can tell me, ‘Girl, A, B, C, D, and E. Don’t even worry about that.’ Or, ‘You should…’ or, ‘You need…’ or whatever. Or, ‘What can I send you? Can I give you? Why don’t you send them over here?’ That kind of stuff. Dear friends.”
