As the weather warms up, you’ll find numerous outdoor movie screens around the Puget Sound area — a perfect way to relax as summer rolls in. Watching an outdoor movie in the Seattle area can be as easy as pie (or popcorn, in this case). Here are a few options to check out in the coming months. Note: This list is not comprehensive.

Drive-In theaters

You can still have a classic movie experience at a drive-in theater — you just have to head outside of Greater Seattle to do so. Washington currently has five drive-in theaters, all of which are family-owned.

Skyline Drive-In Theater — Shelton

Skyline Drive-In Theater has operated since 1964 and plays films, rain or shine. The theater shows two films a night, Friday-Sunday, with showtime at dusk. New this year, the theater is hosting Throwback Thursdays with a classic film every Thursday night, with “Back to the Future” and “E.T.” among recent selections.

$8 per adult and kids 12 and over, $3 for kids 6-11, free for kids 5 and under.   182 S.E. Brewer Road, Shelton. skylineshelton.com

Rodeo Drive-In — Bremerton

Established in 1949, Rodeo Drive-In is now the largest such theater in the Pacific Northwest (it can accommodate about 1,000 cars). Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sunday. First-run double features play on each of their three screens.

$12 for adults and kids 13 and over, $7 for kids 6-12, free for kids under 5. 7369 Highway 3, Bremerton. rodeodrivein.com

Wheel-In Motor Movie Drive-In — Port Townsend

Celebrating its 74th year, this drive-in’s box office opens at 7 p.m. Friday-Sunday, with the first movie beginning at dusk, followed by a later showing. Enjoy all the classic movie fare at the snack bar, plus burgers and nachos.

$10 for adults 13-64, $9 for seniors 65 and over and kids 12 and under, free for kids 5 and under. Season passes also available for one person ($200) or two people ($350). 210 Theatre Road, Port Townsend. ptwheelinmotormovie.com

Blue Fox Drive-In — Oak Harbor

Located on Whidbey Island, Blue Fox Drive-In is part theater, part arcade. Movies run Friday-Sunday September-May, and seven days a week during the summer. Blue Fox also has an arcade where you can play Skee-Ball, shoot hoops and more games via purchase of a Fun Card. The box office and Go-Karts open at 4 p.m. on weekdays (Go-Karts open at noon on weekends). Blue Fox has a snack bar, and on weekends, The BackLot Tavern offers drinks and appetizers in the beer garden for adults 21+. Finally, if you’re too tired to make the drive home after a movie, Blue Fox allows overnight camping (including tents and RVs) with bathroom access until 11 a.m. the next morning.

$7 for ages 11 and up, $1.50 for kids 5-10, free for kids 4 and under, plus a $3 per vehicle facility fee. Separate rates apply to camper vans and RVs. 1403 Monroe Lake Road, Oak Harbor. bluefoxdrivein.com

Auto Vue Drive-In Theatre — Colville

The sole drive-in theater in Eastern Washington, where you can watch double features Friday-Sunday nights, has operated since 1953. The box office opens at 7 p.m. and showtime is at dusk. Sundays are carload nights, when admission is $10 per car, rather than per person.
