Ca d’Zan House Concerts will be hosting the Conor Mallon Band on Sunday August 24 in Cambridge, Illinois. There will be a potluck and social hour from 6pm. to 7:00p.m. followed by the performance at 7:00p.m. It will be an outdoor concert. Uilleann piper Jon Cooper, Miles, Anderson, and Colette Taylor will open the show with a set pipe and whistle tunes.
Conor Mallon is originally from Keady, County Armagh, and is recognized as “one of the leading pipers of his generation.” He began his musical journey at the Armagh Pipers Club and became a senior teacher and performer. His accolades include the ACNI/BBC NI Young Traditional Musicians Platform Award, All-Ireland Champion, and multiple scholarships.
His debut solo album “Unearthed,” was released in May 2023 and was praised for its “high-octane production” by “The Irish Times” and received a nomination for a German Critics Award as well as won album of the year at Chicago’s “Ireland Tonight Music Awards.” The band will be performing the album live at the show.
The concert will be free with a suggested $20-$30 donation. It is for all ages and guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. Proceeds will go toward supporting the artists. Guests looking to participate in the potluck are encouraged to bring a dish to share and plates, bowls, silverware, and napkins.
