  • Ohio’s Cedar Point and Kings Island are the most visited theme parks outside of Florida and California, according to a new report.
  • The Themed Entertainment Association ranked Cedar Point and Kings Island at No. 14 and No. 15 respectively for North American park attendance in 2024.
  • Both Ohio parks saw a 5% increase in attendance from 2023 to 2024. Despite the success of its Ohio parks, parent company Six Flags has reported financial losses and an overall attendance drop in 2025.

Ohio theme park enthusiasts certainly believe that Cedar Point and Kings Island rank alongside Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World as some of the best in the nation.

Now, data from an industry group backs that up.

According to a recent report from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), Ohio’s biggest amusement parks are the most visited ones in the country outside of the hotspots in Florida and California.

The 2024 TEA Global Experience Index, released Oct. 23, 2025, ranks Kings Island and Cedar Point in the top 20 parks in North America by attendance. And the attendance rate grew year-over-year at both parks.

Here’s a look at what the report reveals.

Cedar Point saw 3.78 million visitors in 2024, up 5.0% from 3.6 million in 2023, according to TEA. That puts the Sandusky, Ohio, theme park at No. 14 in North America.

Kings Island in Mason, just north of Cincinnati, was just behind its sister Six Flags park at No. 15. Its attendance also grew 5% to 3.46 million in 2024, up from 3.3 million in 2023.

At the top of the list was Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, which drew 17.8 million visitors in 2024, up 0.7% from 17.7 million the year before.

Six Flags spokesman Tony Clark told Cleveland.com that he couldn’t verify the data from TEA. “As you know, we do not release attendance figures, but insights can be gleaned from our quarterly earnings calls.”

Those quarterly reports do detail attendance figures for all the parks owned by Six Flags, however, and attendence is down at Six Flags in 2025.

Attendance, profits down at Six Flags in 2025

Six Flags has struggled this year, posting a $320 million loss for the first half of the year with attendance dropping by 1.4 million, the Independent, via Yahoo Finance, reported.

In the second quarter, which ended June 29, Six Flags reported a net loss of $100 million and 1.4 million fewer visitors, a 9% drop compared to the second quarter of 2024, according to a company statement. And that’s on top of a $220 million loss for the first quarter, per Yahoo Finance. In September, the company reported a rebound in attendance, with 2% more guests over the nine-week period ending Aug. 31 compared to the same time frame in 2024.
