Skies light up after missile interceptions over Doha, flames in Dubai

Dramatic footage shows missiles intercepted over Doha, flames seen in Dubai.

Shakira’s scheduled April 1 concert in Doha, Qatar, appears to have been postponed, amid heightened tensions in the region linked to the Iran war.

The Colombian singer was set to perform a one‑night‑only show at Stadium 974 as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, according to a Feb. 7 press release from Visit Qatar.

The concert no longer appears on Shakira’s official tour website, and the ticketing page is currently showing an error message, though that could also be due to disruption of Amazon Web Services in the Bahrain region due to drone activity in the area, according to Reuters. Visit Qatar’s website now lists the date as “TBC,” or to be confirmed.

Other concerts announced under Visit Qatar’s live‑events initiative — including performances by Hans Zimmer on April 10 and John Legend on April 17 — remain unchanged.

Shakira’s UAE concert postponed

Meanwhile, OFFLIMITS Music Festival in the United Arab Emirates, where Shakira was set to perform on April 4, has also been postponed, according to an update by Platinum List. The ticket provider did not specify why the festival had been postponed.

The second edition of the festival, which was scheduled to have performances by Jonas Brothers, Ne-Yo and Biffy Clyro, will now take place on Nov. 21 at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island.

Postponed concerts announced amid Iran war, Middle East tensions

Political tensions in the Middle East, including in Qatar and UAE, have escalated after the U.S. government under President Donald Trump and Israel launched a joint war against Iran on Feb. 28. While Qatar is not directly involved in the war, the country along with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain have also been targets of retaliatory Iranian missiles or drone strikes, with hundreds of missiles fired and intercepted, according to previous USA TODAY reporting.

The U.S. Department of State, on March 22, also issued a worldwide caution advisory, urging Americans traveling abroad to exercise increased vigilance, warning U.S. diplomatic facilities and American interests overseas could be potential targets, particularly by groups supportive of Iran.

While the advisory applies globally, it emphasizes heightened caution in the Middle East. The State Department also warned travelers to prepare for potential disruptions, including periodic airspace closures that could affect international flights.

Shakira receives Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination

Shakira, 49, meanwhile, was recently announced as one of the 17 nominees for the 2026 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. If she is chosen among the diverse group that includes Billy Idol, Wu-Tang Clan, Sade, Mariah Carey and Iron Maiden, she would become the first South American solo artist to attain the recognition. Already, she is the first Colombian artist to be nominated.

The accolade would add to a catalog of honors including four Grammy Awards, 15 Latin Grammy Awards and her standing as the most-awarded Latin female singer at the Billboard Latin Music Awards with a staggering 41 nods.
