Avaryl Halley, cohost of the popular Movie Bitches podcast, has passed away after a year and a half long battle with breast cancer on Thursday, October 30, her cohost Andrew Galdi announced on Instagram on Saturday, November 1.
She was 40 years old.
“She wasn’t in pain and she was surrounded by love, family, and friends,” Galdi wrote.
“Avaryl was the best friend I could ever imagine. Spectacularly caring, light hearted, smart, and funny. We had the best times laughing, being creative, and of course talking about movies,” he added of Halley, who chatted with him about movies and RuPaul’s Drag Race on their podcast, TikTok and YouTube channel for more than 10 years.

“Av and I were so close that this loss is unfathomable, but I’m so incredibly grateful to you all for the love and support and amazing gifts and kind words you all sent her,” added Galdi.
“She truly felt all your love and we were both so moved to hear the stories of how our silly podcast touched so many lives.”
Halley, who also worked as a producer on Paul Scheer’s How Did This Get Made podcast for 12 years, “had exquisite taste and her eye for comedy, camp and knack for uncovering the bizarre was unmatched,” the comedian praised in a comment, adding that everyone was “lucky” to have known her.
