A new book chronicling Sheffield’s rich musical history is available to pre-order now. Groovy, Laidback and Nasty, penned by local music journalist Daniel Dylan Wray, charts Sheffield’s extensive contribution to British music over the past seven decades and includes over 150 interviews from some of the city’s most famous exports.
Described by publisher White Rabbit Books as, “the first ever truly definitive history of Sheffield music and the city’s incredible array of artists, scenes, movements and moments”, and from a writer whose bylines can be found in the pages of The Guardian, DJ Mag and The Quietus, Groovy, Laidback and Nasty includes interviews with Richard Hawley, Arctic Monkeys, Self Esteem, Pulp, Def Leppard, The Human League, Heaven 17, and more.
Groovy, Laidback and Nasty is set for release in May, and you can pre-order the book now via White Rabbit Books. The publisher also recently announced Still in a Dream: Shoegaze, Slackers and the Reinvention of Rock, 1984–1994, the latest book from legendary music writer Simon Reynolds, and a UK-wide book launch tour from writer and former record shop owner David Keenan in support of his latest novel Boyhood.
