It started with a hypothetical question: If you could name a celebrity as your emergency contact, who would it be?
The lighthearted prompt quickly turned into a sweet moment when Sheinelle Jones surprised her TODAY co-host Jenna Bush Hager by naming her as person she’d trust to help her through any crisis.
“Mine would be you,” Sheinelle said.
“I mean that sincerely,” she added, explaining that Jenna has a knack for navigating difficult situations without ever missing a beat.”
“Whatever it is, you just handle it.”
Jenna said that Sheinelle would top her list, too, but if she had to pick a celebrity, she’d choose Oprah Winfrey to come to her rescue if she were ever in a bind. She had already imagined exactly how Oprah would show up .
“I feel like she’d come in a helicopter,” Jenna said. “She’d bring me sunflowers from her garden, maybe some fresh grown vegetables, and she’d have a book on hand.”
The exchange was another glimpse into the close bond the two women have built on and off camera.
Speaking to Good Housekeeping earlier this year about joining Jenna for the fourth hour of TODAY, Sheinelle said the show’s dynamic is noticeably different from the third hour, where she previously co-hosted alongside Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Dylan Dreyer.
“The dynamics are different,” she said the outlet. “We always tease each other that Al is kind of like our uncle, Craig is like my little brother because I’m a year older than him, and Dylan was like my sister.”
By comparison, Sheinelle said her relationship with Jenna feels different.
“The fourth hour is, to me, more of a sisterhood and friendship,” she said. “The kinds of things Jenna and I talk about and hold space for is not the kind of content done on the third hour.”
