A woman was taken into custody Sunday after allegedly firing multiple shots at singer Rihanna’s residence in Beverly Crest, according to NBC4 Investigates.
The incident occurred around 1:21 p.m. at a home on the 9500 block of Heather Road, where Rihanna lives with hip-hop star A$AP Rocky and the couple’s three children. It was not immediately known whether A$AP Rocky or the couple’s children were home at the time.
The Los Angeles Police Department said a woman, who was identified Monday as 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz, drove up to the property and fired between seven and nine rounds with what police described as an AR-15-style rifle. At least four rounds struck the house.
The front gate of the property appeared to be riddled with bullet holes and investigators were seen examining an Airstream trailer parked in the driveway.
The suspect was taken into custody. A possible motive was not immediately provided. LAPD Capt. Mike Bland said in a statement that more information on the woman, including booking allegations, would be released Monday.
LAPD confirmed to NBC4 Investigates that Rihanna was home at the time of the shooting, but no injuries were reported.
Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to NBC News’ requests for comment.
The department said that investigators from its Robbery-Homicide Division will handle the case.
A neighbor said she was washing dishes when she was startled by the loud sounds of gunfire in their secluded neighborhood.
“I was a little shocked,” the woman told NBC4. “We don’t hear this kind of thing in this neighborhood. It’s pretty quiet.”
