A crowd gathered at The Capri Theatre in downtown Shreveport Tuesday evening for the official kickoff and theme reveal for the 2026 Christmas in the Sky gala, presented by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
The annual kickoff event begins with its own theme, leaving guests guessing at the Christmas in the Sky theme to be revealed in a craftily written skit.

The announcement theme was “Fly-By” and the skit was “JeopARTody” ending in the big reveal: The theme of Christmas in the Sky 2026 is “VA-BOOM: An epic collision of superheroes and villains.”
Executive Director Rebecca Bonnevier led the finale dance along with superheroes and villains on stage.
The internationally award-winning gala is held in December at Louisiana Downs. Tickets will go on sale in the fall.
The biennial fundraiser supports SRAC and free community arts programs, including ArtBreak, Arts in Education and STEAM learning, the Bakowski Bridge of Lights, Glo Fests, Caddo Common Park Programming, and ARTSPACE exhibitions.
Christmas in the Sky Chairwoman Heidi Kallenberg directs a team of 500 volunteers to create the event for 2,500 guests.
Design Chairwoman Linda B. Goldsberry oversees the creation of the event with a production team and 30 community designers who volunteer their time to build the sets and props for more than a dozen themed sections.

Guests will be treated to numerous choices in food and live entertainment, and will be able to bid on items in a silent auction and a live auction featuring trips, jewelry, celebrity collectibles, one-of-a-kind experiences, and dinner party events.
Chef Ryan Gillespie is the Food and Beverage Director, Tierra Williams is the Entertainment Manager, and Gail Brown is the Auction Chair.
