Simone Biles has responded to critics questioning her vacation photos following her medical emergency.
Earlier this month, the Olympic gymnast had a medical emergency she described as “the scariest experience of my life.”
She has since documented her vacation in Belize on social media, drawing criticism from followers.
Simone Biles is not here for people trying to disrupt her relaxation vibes, especially after her recent medical scare.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist recently called out a commenter on social media, who mockingly questioned why she’s sharing photos of her vacation in Belize after the aforementioned medical emergency. “Almost died but look at these traveling selfies…. 😂😂😂,” the user wrote on Biles’ Instagram post shared on Tuesday.
“Ugh these comments make me sad,” Biles wrote in response on Thursday. “A little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here.”
The gymnast, who has been on vacation with her footballer husband Jonathan Ownens added, “I hope you understand that life changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward 😘 have a nice day!”
The post in question featured several photos of Biles and Owens enjoying their trip of Belize, which they embarked on eight days after she shared the story of her medical emergency to fans. The post is one of several that Biles has shared since the couple began their trip, which have included photos of a bikini-clad Biles and selfies of the couple together.
Biles shared earlier this month that recently suffered a health scare that she described as “one of, if not the scariest experience of my life.”
The athlete took to her Instagram Stories to explain that despite normally preferring to keep things to herself, she wanted to share because “almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
Biles’ message was accompanied by a photo of her arm, on which she wore a hospital wristband.

“I’ve been in bed resting this week,” she added. “I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers. Loooovveeee y’all.”
Biles offered no further details about the frightening incident, but did share a photo of flowers she had received from someone wishing her well and another that saw her resting in bed with the couple’s two dogs.
