BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Plans were announced to bring a state-of-the-art family entertainment center to the Beckley area.

Project managers have said Skate Central will offer an immersive, family friendly experience to area residents. Plans for the facility reportedly include options for roller skating, laser tag, indoor dining, and more. Operations Manager Jon Schmier told 59News he hopes the venture will help local kids take time away from technology for face-to-face engagement with their peers.
“I think it’s really, really important that, as a community, there’s a place like that around where kids can basically put their technology away and stay focused on making friends and becoming more active,” he said.
Though the facility’s exact location has yet to be confirmed, Schmier has said it is slated to open on Robert C. Byrd Drive. Skate Central is currently projected to open its doors to the residents of Beckley in August of 2026.
