Skipton residents will hear a talk from a well-respected reserve manager on the importance of national nature reserves.
On April 8, 7.30pm, the Baptist Church Hall in Rectory Lane will host a meeting featuring guest speaker Craig Ralson.
Mr Ralston, known for expanding the reserve areas from 150 ha to over 700 ha while working with Natural England, has also contributed to ringing more than 100,000 birds for data collection to aid in nature conservation.
Mr Ralston’s presentation will focus on the Lower Derwent Valley National Nature Reserve and its national and international significance.
The entry fee is set at £4, while attendees under 21 can attend for free.
After the presentation, the group’s annual general meeting will take place, and while attendance is not mandatory, it is encouraged.
Other upcoming events include a series of Easter week activities in Christ Church and St Mary’s Carleton, starting April 2.
These include a Maundy Thursday Holy Communion service, Good Friday sessions at Christ Church, and separate Easter Day Communion services at both Christ Church and St Mary’s on April 5.
An organ recital by Robert Marsh is scheduled for Easter Monday at 11am.
Another notable event is the upcoming meeting of the Skipton and Craven History Society.
Taking place in the Swadford Street Centre on April 9 at 7.30pm, Dr Matt Wells is set to deliver a talk titled ‘Roman Skipton: Excavations at Hawbank Field.’
The entrance fee is £3.
Additionally, music fans will be pleased to note that Malc Allen is making a return to the Iron Horse CMC at Broughton Road Social Club on April 11.
The social club’s doors will open at 7.15pm and tickets will be available at £7 on the door.
Allen, a well-liked performer, is famed for his humour and skills in both singing and guitar playing, ensuring an entertaining evening for all attendees.
