Saturday Night Live is adding five new faces to the show’s cast for season 51, one of which has made a name for himself on the popular Kill Tony podcast.
The show made the announcement Tuesday, September 2 that Kill Tony comedian Kam Patterson is among those to be added to the lineup. Also joining Patterson are Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Veronika Slowikowska and Ben Marshall of the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy.
It was last week when TMZ reported Patterson—a 26-year-old comedian out of Orlando, Florida as someone SNL was eyeing to fill one of the vacant cast spots.
Patterson made his first appearance on Kill Tony back in 2023 and has quickly become a fan favorite for his hilarious one minute comedy skits and his back and forth with the show’s host Tony Hinchcliffe.
He’s traveled the country performing with some of the show’s regulars and regularly posts his content on his social media platforms where he’s gained hundreds of thousands of followers.
The comedian posted about his SNL news hours after the announcement was made with a photo of himself and the caption, “Monday nights changed my life, let’s see how I do on Saturdays.”
The Kill Tony podcast is recorded every night. It’s currently unclear if Patterson will continue to appear on the show.
Saturday Night Live made headlines earlier this month when the show announced the departure of several comedians from the show.
Among those announced to be leaving were Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker and Emil Wakim. Gardner was the longest-standing cast member to be departing, having been on the show for eight seasons.
At the time of the TMZ report, the outlet stated an official offer had not been made to Patterson—so things clearly moved quickly.
Saturday Night Live‘s season 51 is set to premiere on October 4. The host and musical guest has not yet been announced for the episode.
