Snoop Dogg has caused mixed reactions among social media users after he recently joined forces with an LGBTQ+ organization and boasted about how having parents from different walks of life makes the world a better place. Snoop Dogg’s recent collaboration, however, comes after the rapper made controversial comments about queer representation in movies, sparking backlash from users and even a Disney movie writer.

Snoop Dogg Sparks Mixed Reaction From Fans After Joining Forces With An LGBTQ+ Organization

Snoop Dogg, 53, recently opened up about his partnership with the LGBTQ+ organization, GLAAD, and his new song, “Love Is Love,” which he’s performing with a contestant from NBC’s show “The Voice.”

“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks and be able to be shown love, to be taught what love is, because hate is taught, and so is love,” Snoop said in a video shared to his YouTube channel. “I think that being able to have parents of all walks of life, whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key.”

“I think these kids are being loved by these great parents that are showing them an example of what a family is,” he continued.

Snoop Dogg Says He’s Teaching Kids That ‘Love Is Love’

In a statement to Out Magazine, Snoop Dogg said that his goal with his new song is to teach the younger generation that love looks different for everybody.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about love, that’s what we’re teachin’ the kids with ‘Love Is Love.’ Partnering with GLAAD for Spirit Day just felt right because spreading love and respect for everybody is what real gangstas do. We’re showin’ the next generation that kindness is cool, inclusion is powerful, and love always wins,” he said.

In the children’s song, Snoop and his collaborator waste no time singing and rapping about inclusivity, stating, “Different families make us all great / There’s no debate, that’s how we relate.”

Snoop Dogg Questioned Queer Representation In Movies Earlier This Year

According to a previous report from The Blast, Snoop Dogg came under fire in August 2025 when his comments about queer representation in children’s movies went viral, prompting several to accuse the rapper of being homophobic.

“They’re putting it everywhere! My grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, ‘Papa Snoop, how [does] she have a baby with a woman?'” Snoop said. “I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh-t that I don’t have an answer for.”

Disney Writer Responds To Snoop’s Comments

Shortly after his comments made headlines, Lauren Gunderson, a writer for the Disney film “Lightyear,” responded to Snoop’s stance on queer stories in cinema, writing plainly, “He sucks.” She took it even further, explaining how “bummed” she was to learn of the hip hop icon’s statements, but expressed hope that he’d join “the side of love” one day.

Social Media Users Share Divided Response To Snoop’s Latest Collaboration

After the news of Snoop Dogg’s latest collaboration was shared online, many users chimed in with their thoughts, and the reactions were mixed.

Several users replied, pointing to his previous comments and wondering if his partnership with GLAAD made sense. “We didn’t forget what he said,” someone wrote, while another said, “Didn’t he just make a homophobic comment…”

Another user echoed that sentiment, writing, “What’s with the celebrities in Hollywood saying bigoted sh-t and then doing sh-t like this for damage control? EVERY TIME.”

“It’s way too late, I’m sorry,” someone else posted. “I would much appreciate Uncle Snoop [being] honest. He has a past.”

On the other hand, several users wrote in support of Snoop Dogg, claiming he was trying to right his wrongs.

“It’s encouraging when public figures evolve and use their influence for good,” a person stated. “Partnering with GLAAD and spreading a message of love and inclusion is definitely a step in the right direction.”

“People are going to call this performative, but if someone wants to make amends, let’s give them the benefit of the doubt,” a user shared. “This world is already so filled with hate, let’s forgive.”

“Love to see icons using their platform for good,” said another user. “Wild how hip hop is evolving, huh?”
