So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

AUTOMATIC – “LAZY”

Automatic says “Lazy” might be “a love song – or an anti-love song.” It’s definitely got a groovy bassline. New album Is It Now? is out September 26

CARLY RAE JEPSEN – “MORE”

Carly Rae Jepsen announced the 10th anniversary edition of E•MO•TION, due out October 17 via Interscope/UMe. It includes four previously unreleased tracks, and she’s shared one of those, “More,” now.

SNOOPER – “GUARD DOG”

“‘Guard Dog‘ is about growth. It’s about the discomfort of feeling too comfortable and recognizing when to make a change. It’s about second guessing yourself, overthinking, trust and distrust, and keeping it moving. It’s about losing and gaining perspective, having a voice, and learning how to use it. Mostly though, it’s about having fun – which is the most important thing.” It’s also about a bunch of cute dogs which are in the video. Snooper’s new album Worldwide is out October 3.

—

ROCKET – “ACT LIKE YOUR TITLE”

Rocket’s debut album R Is For Rocket is out in October, and they’ve shared the second single, “Act Like Your Title,” which vocalist and bassist Alilthea Tuttle says “delves into familial relationships and generational traumas. It’s wishing someone would live up to the standards that are set for them but knowing that they will never ‘act like their title.’ Holding out hope that someone will change, especially family, is such a difficult concept and can feel so isolating.”

—

BASS DRUM OF DEATH – “NEVER GONNA DRINK ABOUT YOU”

Mississippi garage rock duo Bass Drum of Death will release new album SIX on September 12 and the’ve just shared another jam from it. “Really wanted to get as fast and noisy as possible with this one,” says the band’s John Barrett. “The tone on the guitar solos might be my favorite tone on the entire record.

—

FLOCK OF DIMES – “AFRAID”

Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak’s new album as Flock of Dimes, The Life you Save, is out in October, and she’s given us another preview with “Afraid.” “This song is an intention, an incantation, a prayer,” she says. “It says: I accept what has happened, but I refuse to let it dictate the outcome of my life. We all enter this world untainted, and our circumstances dictate the weight that we will have to carry throughout the rest of our lives. For some, this weight is far greater than it is for others. This song is a mantra for those who wish to believe that we can transcend the circumstances over which we had no control.”

—

WEIRS – “I WANT TO DIE EASY”

North Carolina experimental collective Weirs will release the album Diamond Grove on October 3 via Dear Life Records, and the first taste is the lo-fi, hymn-like album opener “I Want To Die Easy.”

—

KEIYAA – “STUPID PRIZES”

keiyaA is back with her first new song since 2022’s “Camille’s Daughter.” About “Stupid Prizes,” she says, “I wrote, recorded, and produced “stupid prizes” all in one sitting, at home late at night in my living room in Brooklyn. I sampled Percy Faith, an orchestral composer known for creating rich and luscious scores and show tunes, helping contribute to this classic ‘American’ sound. I sought out to create this sort of bed of irony, to speak and sing about being miserable on top of this beautiful, dreamy and romantic music. Which speaks not only to what it can feel like navigating my internal and external worlds, but also what it feels like being a marginalized person in America.”

—

CUSP – “FOLLOW ALONG”

Cusp have announced a new album, What I Want Doesn’t Want Me Back, due October 17 via Exploding In Sound. Here’s the grungy, ’90s-style indie rock of new single “Follow Along.”

—

COHEED AND CAMBRIA – “GOODBYE, SUNSHINE” FT. 311’S NICK HEXUM

Coheed and Cambria have unveiled a new Endless Summer version of “Goodbye, Sunshine” off their new album The Father of Make Believe, co-produced by The Scientist and featuring 311’s Nick Hexum. “The arrangement was born out of a Chicago Q101 Pop-Up stripped down radio performance,” Claudio Sanchez says. “We enjoyed the version so much, we chose to explore it further by enlisting the help of 311’s Nick Hexum and dub producer The Scientist.”

—

CASTLE RAT – “SERPENT”

Castle Rat, “a Medieval Fantasy Heavy Metal band led by the Rat Queen on a mission to expand and defend ‘The Realm’ from those who seek to destroy it,” will release their new album The Bestiary on September 19. Here’s the soaring trad-metal of new single “Serpent.”

—

BEACH BUNNY – “YEAR OF THE OPTIMIST”

Beach Bunny’s new single “Year of the Optimist” was written at the same time as their April album Tunnel Vision.

—
