Spice Girl Melanie C has dropped the steamy music video for her comeback single Sweat – and it shows she’s still living up to her ‘Sporty Spice’ moniker.
The pop star, 51, shows off her super-fit physique in the video for the new single, a club-ready track built around a sample of Diana Ross’ 1981 song Work That Body.
The video itself plays homage to Olivia Newton-John’s Physical as Melanie pumps weights surrounded by a bevy of speedo-clad male bodybuilders.
The song is the first taste of Melanie’s upcoming ninth solo album of the same name, set for release on May 1, 2026.
Melanie scored her biggest chart hit in years with her last album, which hit the UK top 10 in 2020. Since then though, it’s been by far the largest gap of the star’s career without new music.
But she’s been keeping busy, with regular jaunts to Australia in recent years as she fostered a burgeoning DJ career, appeared as a coach on The Voice and found love with her partner, Australian model Chris Dingwall.
Melanie said in a statement that the new music is an ode to the dancefloor from an artist whose solo music has often veered towards moody rock-pop.
“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching. Now I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again,” she said.
“There are so many horrific things going on in the world, when you make pop and dance music, it can seem almost churlish. But music is what gets me through tough moments. I’m really happy I am bringing out a joyful record at a very dark time.”
