The Springfield Chamber Players will launch their 2025–26 season at 52 Sumner in Springfield on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
Bassist Alexander Svensen, assistant principal bass of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, will perform works by Bach, Bartók, and Dragonetti. He will be joined by violinist Romina Kostare and guest performer Patrick Berry.
Bob Kadis celebration
On Thursday, Oct. 23, the Friends of the Agawam Public Library will host a celebration to honor Robert “Bob” Kadis and his legacy. Kadis was a longtime member of the Friends and had a passion for the arts. For many years, he orchestrated annual juried art shows and juried photography exhibits, showcasing, in the library’s gallery, the work of many people in the community.
The gallery is now to be named in Kadis’s honor and a plaque to commemorate the dedication will be unveiled at the celebration. The program will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in the library’s Judith Clini Conference Room and will include shared memories by members of his family and the arts community. The evening is open to everyone who wants to share in the celebration.
Living Room Concert Series
TheaterWorks Hartford will continue its Living Room Concert Series on Oct. 23 with Hartford-based musicians Jeremy Galloway and Tim Weisman, performing as Jeremy & Tim. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at Bar Max, 1 Haynes St., Hartford. Tickets are $20, with subscription packages available.
Additional Take Ten performance
The Oct. 25 performance of “Take Ten” has sold out and the Valley Players have added a second performance date on Sunday, Oct. 26. Both performance will take place at Black Birch Vineyard, 108 Straits Rd., Hatfield, on Oct. 25 and 26. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with shows at 6:30 p.m.
The program features staged readings of six new 10-minute plays by Pioneer Valley playwrights, performed by a cast of 20 actors and directors. Admission is pay-what-you-can, beginning at $15, with half of proceeds benefiting The Literacy Project. Food and drinks will be available, including wine from Black Birch Vineyard and wood-fired pizza from The Vintner’s Slice.
Mind Left Body concert
On Oct. 25, CitySpace in Easthampton will host local psychedelic rock group Mind Left Body for a one-night performance honoring the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s album “Blues for Allah.” The show begins at 8 p.m. in the Blue Room at Old Town Hall, 43 Main St., with doors at 7 p.m.
Winterpills album release
Northampton-based quintet Winterpills will release their eighth album, “This Is How We Dance,” on Nov. 14 on Signature Sounds. The release coincides with the 20th anniversary of their debut album, which has been reissued with remastered tracks and two new bonus songs.
To celebrate the new album, the band will perform a release show on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Iron Horse Music Hall, 18 Center St., Northampton, at 7 p.m. For tickets, visit https://ironhorse.org.
