Scenes from the 50th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Naples
Thousands lined the streets as the Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrated its 50th anniversary
- The 50th annual Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place on Saturday, March 14.
- Organizers initially canceled the event in January due to increased security costs from the city.
- The event featured marching bands, Irish dancers, and floats, drawing an estimated 40,000 people.
The shamrocks, the river dancers, the marching bands: The Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade turned downtown Naples green on Saturday, March 14.
But the 50th annual parade almost never happened.
Organizers canceled the parade in January over new, more expensive security costs charged by the City of Naples. Then the Naples community saved the day. Prominent residents and business owners donated the money to cover those expenses.
So the cherished Naples tradition did happen, after all, packing downtown’s streets with smiling fans Saturday. Organizers say the annual event draws more than 40,000 people every year.
The parade featured marching bands, Irish dancers, floats and more — all decked out in green and shamrocks.
