Prince Harry is allegedly trying to get his royal security protection reinstated after he reportedly had two close calls with a stalker.
It has been revealed that Harry’s supposed stalker “got within yards” of the prince, and he is working to regain his state-funded security detail, which was withdrawn when he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties.
According to Radar Online, the alleged stalker accessed a “secure zone” inside London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on September 7 when Harry was in the city as part of crisis talks with his father, King Charles. She was also reportedly found hiding in one of the hotel’s bathrooms, uttering “odd comments” about Harry less than half an hour before he arrived for the WellChild Awards.
It has further been reported that mere days later, the same woman got within feet of the 41-year-old when he visited the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College London. However, she was blocked from getting closer to the prince by a member of his staff who recognized her and “body-blocked” the supposed stalker.
The woman is also said to be on a list of people who are considered dangerous to Harry’s family, and it was alleged that she sent letters to both the Duke and Meghan, 44.
“Given these incidents, it’s no wonder Harry is so concerned about security,” a source told Radar Online. “He fought to have his security paid for in the U.K. – and lost – but that doesn’t mean he’ll be walking around unprotected. There will always be layers of security surrounding the prince, whether he’s alone or with Meghan.”
Harry has been working for the past five years to get his state-funded security reinstated, telling the BBC that he can’t see his family safely returning to Britain. He has also previously stated that he does not believe he can provide the same level of security as that which is provided by the United Kingdom.
This comes as Meghan and Harry are dealing with the tragic surgery faced by the Duchess’s father, Thomas Markle. The 81-year-old had to have his left leg amputated during an emergency operation after the limb supposedly turned black.
Earlier this week, Meghan’s father was taken to the hospital in the Philippines after he fell ill at his home. He then endured a three-hour procedure to extract a blood clot from his foot, and currently remains in the hospital.
Following his surgery, it has been reported that Meghan reached out to her dad, sending him an email. Her spokesperson also confirmed she contacted him, although they didn’t disclose by what means.
