Renowned horror novelist Stephen King,  a vocal opponent of President Donald Trump, has branded his current presidency a “horror story” and demanded the politician’s impeachment.

During his most recent interview, the 77-year-old writer didn’t hold back when expressing his contempt for Trump and the divisive choices he’s made since taking the oath as the 47th president of the United States.

Since launching his second term, Trump has pushed the boundaries of executive power and has triggered fury among numerous Americans and public figures.

In a recent sit-down with The Guardian, the IT author fielded multiple questions about Trump, whom he’s openly slammed on countless occasions and recently labeled “incompetent.”

During the interview, Stephen was posed the question, “If you had to invent an ending for Trumpian America, what would it be?”

Stephen fearlessly responded, “I would love to see him retired, let’s put it that way. The bad ending would be that he gets a third term and takes things over completely. It’s a horror story either way. Trump is a horror story, isn’t he?”

Stephen, who initially became a Democratic Party member in 1970, has lambasted Trump repeatedly this year. In June, the author of The Shining posted on X, formerly Twitter, “Deep down in his heart, I believe Trump knows he’s an incompetent a–hole.”

He continued by stating, “Trump is like a spoiled child. When he doesn’t get his way, he throws a tantrum.”

In a previous interview with the Sunday Times, Stephen expressed his disdain for Trump, stating, “I happen to think that Trump was a horrible president and is a horrible person.”

He continued, “I think he actually engaged in criminal behavior and, certainly, I felt that he was a sociopath who tried to overturn the American democracy not out of any political wish of his own but because he could not admit that he had lost.”

Stephen also questioned the loyalty of Trump’s supporters, saying, “So, I don’t really understand the people who continue to support him, but I do understand that a guy driving a pickup truck covered with Trump and NRA stickers – you know, take my rifle when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers – would stop and pick up a stranger if he was in a rainstorm and say: ‘Where you going, buddy?'”

He concluded, “That guy might go out of his way to take him there because people as individuals are good. I think sometimes when they get to be a political group, that can be a problem.”

Stephen’s latest interview comes as he has been busy this year and is now preparing for the cinematic adaptation of his book, The Long Walk. The movie, which will be produced by Lionsgate and directed by Francis Lawrence, is set to premiere in theaters everywhere on Sept. 12.
