The 2026 cultural exchange is an event featuring a wide array of ethnic music and dance, educational and cultural displays, desserts, breads and light snacks.
This year’s event, set for March 13, will also include a state-level step team performance. It is sponsored by the Sterling Heights Ethnic Community Committee and takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Sterling Heights Community Center, located at 40250 Dodge Park Road.
“Sterling Heights is proud of its rich cultural diversity, and the Cultural Exchange gives us the opportunity to celebrate that together,” said Melanie Davis, Sterling Heights community relations director. “This event highlights the traditions, stories and talents that make our community strong and connected.”
The 11-member Sterling Heights Ethnic Community Committee started in 1990. Its goals include developing understanding and improving communication among diverse races and ethnic groups in the city, according to a press release.
The city is currently seeking support and participation for the event. Any businesses interested in becoming sponsors, restaurants that would like to donate food samples, cultural organizations interested in hosting a display table or dance/entertainment groups interested in performing must apply for the event by Feb. 23.
To apply for the event, contact community relations at 586-446-2470.
