Sterling K. Brown reflects on his time with Andy Samberg on ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’
This Is Us alum Sterling K. Brown has nothing but praise for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg.
While promoting season 2 of the thriller series Paradise, the 49-year-old actor sat down with The Movie Podcast on February 24, and looked back on working with Andy, 47, on the hit sitcom and spoke highly of the Saturday Night Live alum.
“Andy is a genius. Like he’s a genius,” he stated, while shouting out his character Jake Peralta. “Like all these people have come from the SNL (Saturday Night Live) catalog and they’re all brilliant people. But Andy needs to be up there right with everybody else because to see him do his thing in person, up close, it’s gorgeous.”
When asked about his favourite memories from shooting the episode ‘The Box’ from the popular comedy series’ fifth season, the Emmy award winner first paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor Andre Braugher.
“It was such an honour to work with (him). I was always just hearing his name. So, the opportunity to be in a space at work with him was a dream come true,” he noted.
Referring to the chemistry between Andy and Andre, who played Captain Holt, Sterling recalled, “The chemistry between the two of them; so good.”
He also shared how Andy reassured Andre when he questioned himself and how the Palm Springs actor defended Sterling when his lines were slightly altered.
