Steve Zahn shares the screen with his real-life daughter Audrey Zahn in an emotional new drama.
PEOPLE is debuting the exclusive first trailer for She Dances, co-written by Steve, 58, and director Rick Gomez.
In the film, Steve plays a father who is forced to reconnect with his daughter on the road to her final dance competition. She is portrayed by his daughter Audrey, 23, in her feature debut.
“As they navigate a shared tragedy,” the She Dances synopsis reads, “the whirlwind of the Young Miss Southeast Regional Dance Finals becomes the backdrop for their journey toward healing.”

She Dances had its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Festival. The cast also features Ethan Hawke, Sonequa Martin-Green, Rosemarie DeWitt and Dance Moms alum Mackenzie Ziegler.
“Watching this film with audiences at film festivals has been so much fun for us, and we’re thrilled that the movie has been given a chance to play to audiences in theaters,” Steve and Gomez say in a joint statement. “The film has a unique quality that resonates with people. It’s simple and powerful.”
EKKL Entertainment, the film’s distributor, describes the movie as a “story about rediscovering family and finding yourself — about accepting what is, letting it shape you, and recognizing who you are through the memories of those you love most.”
Steve also shares son Henry with his wife Robyn Peterman. Audrey next stars opposite Kate Mara, Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss in Apple TV’s thriller Imperfect Women, premiering March 18.
She Dances is in theaters March 27.
